An exhibition called ‘penARTh’ has opened at the Washington Gallery, Penarth, near Cardiff – art inspired by the seaside town of Penarth, where I live. It is on until November 5th. I have four small framed works in it plus a large wall quilt which has been hung in the downstairs part of the gallery. There was a lovely preview with live music from a Celtic folk band.
The four small pieces include images of the derelict Billybanks housing estate which has now given way to smart new apartments and houses. I took literally hundreds of photographs there.
The quilt is called Cliff Walk and is inspired by the colours of wild flowers and glimpses of the sea on the clifftop walk from Penarth to Lavernock Point.
