Worn Walls by Millie Thomas selected for exhibition

Congratulations to Millie whose quilt Worn Walls has been selected to be exhibited at the Phillip Goulden Gallery at Walford Mill (Wimbourne, Dorset) in January/February 2014. The interactive tactile exhibition is called Tactile Textile Surfaces.

This quilt was inspired by the baked and cracked surfaces on the walls of my father’s medieval house in a village in the South of France.  The heat bounces off the ancient walls in the narrow streets as it does in many other parts of the world.
Touching the quilt feels crisp, crunchy and sometimes feels a little flaky resembling the old  plaster disintegrating on the timeworn walls.
It measures 129cms long by 41cms wide.
